by Julia Kasdorf
Quilts will be judged in the following categories:
-
- Best Use of Dimple Fabrics
- Best Representation of Theme
- Best Workmanship
- Best Display of Creativity
- Best Use of Humor
- Best of Show
Theme: "What I Learned From My Mother" (or Aunt or Sister or Grandmother or ???)
If you do not have any of these women in your life, you may just take something
from the poem What I Learned From My Mother or create someone. Your theme may be as simple as showing that
your Mom taught you to sew by making a quilt with her favorite block in her
favorite color. You could also depict something you still hear your Mother
saying...."Do not slam the door or the cake will fall!"
Rules
-
No larger than 48" square (192"total outside measurement) or smaller than
30" square (120" total outside measurement). No one side can be larger
than 48" or smaller than 30". Include any technique, but it must be quilted.
-
The quilt must include the "Dimples" fabric by Gail Kessler for Andover Fabrics.
There are many colors available. You may use other fabrics but at least
one "Dimple" must be visible.
-
Include at least one traditional block in your quilt.
-
You must include a descriptive paragraph on paper pinned to the front
(no name) for display to explain the story behind your quilt.
- The quilt must be pieced and quilted of only one person. No groups quilts!
-
The quilt must be completed to be judged.
- The deadline is our regular meeting, November 10, 2008.
Remember we would love to have everyone participate!
Wouldn't it be great to see 60-100 finished entries by the deadline!
Questions? Call Betty Phillips
Note: If you plan to show your quilt in future shows, it is easier to add a sleeve when adding the binding.
